HU&CO PARTY HIRE

Terms of Service & Hire Conditions

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Welcome to HU&CO Party Hire. By making a booking with us, purchasing a product or service, or using our website, you agree to these Terms of Service and Hire Conditions.

Please read these terms carefully before making a booking.

1. About Our Services

HU&CO Party Hire provides party equipment, event hire, entertainment, styling and related services.

Our website allows customers to view and book available products and services online.

We are now fully online and no longer operate a walk-in retail shop.

Our services, products, availability and pricing may change from time to time.

2. Booking & Payment

A booking is only considered secured once the required payment has been received.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking.
  • The remaining balance must be paid by the required due date stated on your invoice or booking confirmation.
  • Full payment must be received before equipment or services are released or provided.
  • If payment is not received by the required due date, HU&CO Party Hire reserves the right to cancel the booking and make the equipment or service available to another customer.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure payment is made on time.

3. Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change. However, when you make a booking with us, we reserve the equipment, date and resources specifically for your event.

Cancellation more than 30 days before your event

Your 50% deposit remains non-refundable.

Where appropriate, HU&CO Party Hire may offer a credit or alternative arrangement at our discretion.

Cancellation within 30 days

The 50% deposit remains non-refundable.

Cancellation within 14 days

100% of the booking price is non-refundable, subject to any rights you may have under New Zealand consumer law.

Change of Mind

If you simply change your mind about your booking, a refund is not automatically available.

HU&CO Party Hire may, at its discretion, offer a credit, partial refund or alternative booking date.

4. Weather & Unforeseen Circumstances

The safety of our customers, staff and equipment always comes first.

For outdoor equipment such as bouncy castles, weather conditions may affect whether we can safely proceed with a booking.

If weather conditions make it unsafe to provide the service, we may:

  • Reschedule your booking, subject to availability; or
  • Provide a credit toward a future booking.

Where possible, customers should have a suitable indoor or undercover backup location.

COVID-19, Government Restrictions & Major Events

If your event cannot proceed because of government restrictions, public health requirements, lockdowns, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control, HU&CO Party Hire will work with you to find a reasonable solution.

This may include rescheduling or providing a booking credit.

Any refund will be considered in accordance with applicable New Zealand law and the circumstances of the cancellation.

5. Hire Period

The standard hire period for general equipment is 24 hours, unless otherwise stated on the product listing or booking confirmation.

Some products have different hire periods.

For example:

  • Bouncy castles: Maximum 6 hours of playtime
  • Soft play: Maximum 4 hours of playtime
  • Giant items such as Candy Carts/Cocktail Carts: Generally up to 5 hours
  • Giant 21 Lights: Collection may be arranged for midnight or earlier at HU&CO Party Hire’s discretion.

If you require equipment earlier than the agreed collection time or require an additional day’s hire, an additional fee may apply.

6. Customer Responsibility

The hirer is responsible for the equipment from the time it is collected or delivered until it is returned to HU&CO Party Hire or collected by our team.

Customers must:

  • Use equipment appropriately and for its intended purpose.
  • Take reasonable care of all hired equipment.
  • Keep equipment secure and protected from damage.
  • Follow all instructions provided by HU&CO Party Hire.
  • Notify us immediately if equipment is damaged, lost or becomes unsafe.

7. Damage, Loss & Replacement

All equipment is inspected before and after hire.

If equipment is damaged, lost, excessively soiled or returned in a condition that requires repair or replacement, the hirer may be responsible for the reasonable cost of cleaning, repair or replacement, subject to applicable law.

If damage occurs during your hire period, please contact us immediately.

Customers should never attempt to repair equipment themselves unless specifically authorised by HU&CO Party Hire.

8. Normal Wear & Tear

Party hire equipment naturally experiences reasonable wear and tear through normal use.

Normal wear and tear does not automatically entitle a customer to a refund.

However, this does not limit any rights you may have under New Zealand consumer law.

9. Cleaning & Care

All equipment is checked before being provided to the customer and after it is returned.

Customers are expected to return equipment in a reasonably clean condition and free from food, rubbish and excessive dirt.

Additional cleaning charges may apply where equipment is returned excessively dirty or stained.

This may include:

  • Mud
  • Excessive dirt
  • Sunscreen
  • Sticky substances
  • Excessive food or drink residue
  • Stains requiring additional cleaning

10. Bonds

A security bond of up to $150 may apply to some bookings.

Higher bonds may apply to specialty or higher-value equipment, including photo booths and Candy Carts.

The bond must be paid as specified on your booking or invoice.

Bonds are refunded after the equipment has been returned and inspected, provided there are no outstanding cleaning, damage, loss or other applicable charges.

No bond will be refunded until the equipment has been inspected.

11. Delivery & Collection

Delivery and collection charges depend on the location, equipment and service booked.

Our standard Hamilton-area delivery fee is generally $60, unless otherwise stated.

Equipment that is specifically listed as customer collection will not incur a delivery fee.

Some equipment must be delivered, installed and collected by HU&CO Party Hire.

Delivery fees will be confirmed before the equipment or service is released.

Upstairs / Difficult Access

A $55 hauling/upstairs fee may apply where equipment needs to be carried upstairs or transported a significant distance from the vehicle to the setup location.

Additional charges may apply where access is particularly difficult or requires additional staff/time.

12. Couriered Equipment

Courier delivery is not our preferred option and is only available for selected non-breakable items.

Where courier delivery is approved:

  • Courier costs are the responsibility of the hirer.
  • The hirer is responsible for ensuring equipment is packaged securely for return.
  • Any damage caused by inadequate packaging may be charged to the hirer.

13. Transportation of Equipment

Customers collecting equipment must use a suitable vehicle.

For safety reasons, certain equipment must not be transported in the back of a ute or trailer.

HU&CO Party Hire reserves the right to refuse the release of equipment if we reasonably believe it cannot be transported safely or may be damaged during transportation.

Where equipment is refused due to unsafe transportation arrangements, cancellation and refund conditions will apply in accordance with applicable law and the circumstances.

Bouncy castles and soft play equipment must be delivered, installed and packed down by HU&CO Party Hire unless the specific product is advertised as available for customer collection.
